Enrique Cantú Montemayor

Contemporary Mexican Artist

Enrique Cantú Montemayor was born, and still lives, in Monterrey, Nuevo León, México in 1952.
Since he was a little boy he showed great interest in the observation of objects. This interest leads him to get passionate by drawing and painting.

He studied architecture (Tecnológico de Monterrey) and a graphic designer as well (Universidad de Monterrey). For several years he taught in these fields.

Later he decided to focus his interests in being a self-taught painter. In order to achieve more experience and knowledge he goes to Italy (Firenze) to enroll in sculpture and painting techniques courses as well as drawing workshops.

His objects, landscapes and portrait paints tell a story about him, a moment in his life or his personality perhaps. Watching his work allows the observer to feel hugged by its creation and its condition.

Cantú is known for giving the inhabitants of his paints the silence and dreams that reflect the personality of the author in the creating process.

The work of this contemporary realistic painter can be appreciated in private and public collections in places like: Ciudad de México, Guadalajara, Monterrey, Chicago, Houston, San Francisco, Delaware y Puerto Rico.

Painting has taking him to show his work in several individual and collective exhibits in national and international galleries.
